How is this site supported?
1. Why do the points in my stat
bar not match the points on the project website?
The stat bars are only updated twice
per day - thus the stats you see at the project website may
be more up to date then the stats seen in your signature.
Also, for projects that have both regular project stats and
BOINC stats available (right now, WCG and RieselSieve), make
sure you are comparing the correct stats.
2. Which projects do you support?
View our add
page to see which projects are currently available. Projects
with checkboxes next to their names are active and running
- projects with "coming soon" next to their names
are projects we expect to add at some point in the future.
3. What's with the slowdown? Why
does it take so long to load pages after filling in my information?
Slowdowns often occur when attempting
to access stats during stat updates. See project-specific
details for information on stat update times and other
possible quirks.
4. Why do you need my email address?
Your email address will be used to
send your statbar key to. Your key is necessary should you
ever feel the need to change your statbar in the future. If
for whatever reason you lose your statbar key, we will then
be able to resend it, upon request, to your email address.
We will not spam you or do any other evil things to your email
address...if you are worried about that, you may enter "none"
in the form, though do realize that you will not be able to
retrieve your key in the future if it is lost.
5. Why does the statbar not display
my stats for project XYZ?
Most of the time, this is due to the
site having trouble retreiving your stats. Verify that you
have entered your username correctly. If so, then most likely
project XYZ's stats are in the process of being updated, and
have therefore become unavailable. You may then either try
back at another time, or keep the statbar it makes and wait
for the daily dcStat update to enter the correct stats.
6. What is my statbar number?
When you attempt to log in to edit
your statbar, it asks for your statbar number. The statbar
number is the same as the filename of the statbar, so if the
address to your stat bar is http://dcstat.com/sig/999.gif,
then your statbar number is 999. If you've lost the address
to your statbar, you will simply need to create a new one.
7. When I select multiple images
to rotate between, they seem to overlap when displayed...what's
wrong?
Most likely you have images of different
dimensions. This confuses the generator, as it doesn't know
what to do with the missing or extra space that results from
the different dimensions. (IE: if you have a 10x20 image,
and a 15x30 image, the 10x20 image may display some of the
15x30 image as it is not lage enough to cover it while rotating).
See question 8 for further thoughts on this.
8. When I select multiple images
to rotate between, one of them looks like they're cut off...what's
wrong?
See the response to question 7 - however,
instead of not knowing what to do with excess space, it for
some reason decided to simply cut off the excess of the larger
image. I haven't got around to researching why sometimes it
overlaps and other times it cuts an image down completely
- my best guess is it uses the dimensions of the first image
in the animation - if it's larger, then they overlap, if it's
smaller, then they cut off. I may look into fixing this in
the future.
9. When and how often are images
updated?
Currently, images are updated twice
a day. The first update finishes around 9am GMT, and the second
around 9pm GMT. I hope to increase this to 4 times per day
at some point in the future.
